what I did today
Woke up, ate breakfast, did some stuff, ate lunch, did some stuff…
No, seriously. Today I spent at least an hour on the phone, most of the day writing, or trying to, about ten minutes playing the piano and fifteen seconds reading a letter that came through the post.
One day, everyone will have a blog, and every parent, grandparent and distant stalker will read that blog. The trick is learning how to get the thing established safely and satisfactorily, because I am fairly sure it is the way of the future.
In the meantime, one gets letters that are sort of like reverse blogs. People describe what they have been doing, sometimes at great length, in a rather generalised sort of way, in writing, for an audience of one recipient. This is really quite inefficient. I personally find it incredibly difficult to respond in kind, because, well, I already know what I’ve been doing, and therefore don’t feel particularly inclined to describe it all again seventeen times over.
So it would be great for me if eventually people could read this blog, and find it out that way.
Is there anything wrong with that scenario? I can think of two answers already (yes and no) but perhaps you have more ideas.

I got to your blog by typing in “how much beef in a Macdonalds burger”. I thought you might like to know this. Why I thought this is something I am presently investigating.

Dear Ms. Alice,
Welcome to Austin.
Except for extraordinary and urgent messages…
Our Motto:
Them as won’t read our blog, and don’t reach us on the phone, and won’t obtain e-mail addresses (inter alia to be reminded to read the blog), then I suppose they will have to be ignorant of our doings and thinkings, however fascinating.
