Erasure- Abbaesque
I got a cheapo CD of Erasure’s Abba-esque, a brave and clever recording of four covers of Abba songs which you will not like if early 90s gay disco isn’t your thing. It is very very men in jeans and white t-shirts with ultra-short hair. However, Vince Clark the keyboard man does jolly clever things, and they obviously genuinely like Abba, these are serious covers done well (if you like the style) (except that the crescendic build-up in Lay all your love on me is missing, my only real quibble), which it is surprising more people fail to even attempt, never mind achieve, given the staggering genius of the songs. But people still underestimate Abba even now, regarding them as mere pop stars rather than modern operatic superstar universal geniuses, as they should.
